ROCKIN’ THE CLUBS
The guys took the van to Worcester, Albany and NYC, but mainly played in Hartford, CT.. NYC gigs included CBGB’s, The Other End, Kenny’s Castaways and SNAFU. The band often played at the Hartford’s Municipal Cafeteria… known as the Muni. They opened at Shaboo near Willimantic for Blotto, another group that combined humor and rock. |
THEATER REVUES
The group wrote about four revues, in which they intermingled their songs with comedy sketches. They wrote scripts, enlisted extra actors, painted sets, sold tickets, and gave patrons a wild evening's entertainment. Venues included a storefront theater called the Protean, the Wadsworth Atheneum, and The First Amendment Theater in NYC. One show was called, "Billy & The Buttons Incredible Rise to World Fame," a mock-autobiographical take off on the ups and downs of the music biz. |
